THE WANDERERS · The Well of Truth

A return home — or the beginning of another illusion?
In The Circle of Truth, the final part of the Wanderers saga, Gabriel faces the most fragile of realities: the one that bears his own reflection.
When the line between magic and memory begins to fade, even the heart can no longer tell what is real.

The young friends, reunited after many trials, finally meet again on the island of Samoara. Yet Gabriel soon realises he has missed the battle. Amid the ruins of the island, they make their plans and march with a great army into the future to pursue Horian. But moments after crossing Magalus’s Gate, Gabriel awakens in his own room in Nick’s Hollow. Confused and disoriented, he begins to sense that the world around him is not what it seems. When he meets Casper, his doubts deepen. The once-peaceful village, long untouched by strangers, is now home to wizards.

Gabriel tries to adapt to this new life, though he must hide every secret he carries from the world he left behind. No one believes his claim that reality itself has changed. He reaches out to Rebecca, who still lives in the village only because of her mother’s official position — for her magic is gone, and her voice trembles with stammering words. Lost in uncertainty, Gabriel seeks counsel from Mr Green, a man who clearly knows far more than he is willing to reveal.

As the uneasy days pass, the friends find a chance to escape. But Gabriel stumbles upon a hidden human settlement, where hatred toward the magical world runs deep. He forms a new plan — only to watch it collapse when he and Casper discover a skeleton in the Dunns’ cellar. Casper narrowly avoids imprisonment when the forensics team uncovers a shocking truth: the body, dressed in royal robes and bearing a golden crown, carries Casper’s own DNA.

Casper is taken to the castle and cut off from his friend. Left behind, Gabriel takes matters into his own hands, caught in a web of choices and consequences that will not reach their end for another twenty years.
